Will you check that my details are correct when I book my test?

Yes, the team will review your booking details to ensure everything is correct, including your selected test and nearest test centre.

I need to book my test as soon as possible, can you help?

If you’re in a hurry, select the ASAP option during booking. The team will aim to secure the earliest available appointment—next-day bookings are possible, but more likely within 3 days unless a cancellation is found. Let them know if there are specific days you cannot attend.

What happens after I book the test?

Once booked, the team will confirm your details and send you updates via email and text. You can track the status of your booking using the reference number and your date of birth on the website.

Do I have to take any identification to the test centre?

Yes, you must bring a valid UK driving licence or a signed passport. If you don’t have these, a Waiver form will be provided to use instead.

What should I expect during the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test?

The test is a multiple-choice exam that covers various topics like:

  • Health and safety practices on construction sites

  • Environmental awareness

  • Legal and management issues related to construction safety

Are there any revision guides or materials to help me prepare for the test?

Yes, you can find revision guides online or in bookstores. Be sure to choose the correct version for the test level you’re taking and ensure it’s up to date.

What happens if I fail my test? Can I take it again?

If you fail, you can rebook the test after 24 hours. However, you cannot take another test within 48 hours of your initial test.

How do I book the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test?

You can book the test via the Book Test page. The process takes only a few minutes. Bookings include the £21 test fee plus a £22.99 booking and support fee.

What is the Test + Retest Option?

The Test + Retest option lets you book two tests at once. If you fail the first test, you can easily schedule your second test without additional hassle. However, tests cannot be taken within 48 hours of each other due to CITB policy.

Why do I need to take the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test?

While a CSCS card is not a mandatory requirement for all construction jobs, it’s widely required across most construction sites. The test, combined with relevant qualifications, ensures that workers have the necessary knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices on-site.

What else do I need to obtain a CSCS Card?

After passing your CITB Health and Safety Test, you may need to complete a one-day Health & Safety course unless you already hold a lifetime qualification (like the QCF Level 1/SCQF Level 4 Award for Labourers).

Once the test and course are completed (or if you already have the qualifications), you can apply for your CSCS card by submitting your test certificate and qualification as evidence.
