How can I book a test?

Booking is extremely quick and easy!
Simply go to the booking page, fill in the form and review/complete your booking.

After completing your booking, confirmation will be sent to you via  Email and  SMS containing details of your appointment, including date, time and test centre address.

How can I book tests for a group?

Booking for Two or More? It’s Easy!

Whether you’re arranging for everyone to take the test on the same day and at the same test centre, or need to schedule each person separately — on different dates or locations — we’ve made it simple.

Just head over to our Group Booking page, complete the form, and confirm your booking in a few quick steps.

I don't know what test I need

In most cases, you’ll need to take the Operatives Test. It’s designed for a wide range of common trades including:

  • Labourers

  • Bricklayers

  • Carpenters

  • Painters & Decorators

  • Groundworkers

  • Dry Liner Fitters

  • Cleaners

  • And many other construction-related roles

This test is also the right choice for most CSCS cards, such as:

  • Green CSCS Card

  • Blue Skilled CSCS Card

  • Gold Advanced CSCS Card

  • Red CSCS Card (Trainee, Apprentice, Experienced Worker)

Exceptions – You May Need a Different Test If You’re In One of These Roles:

  • Manager or Professional → Managers & Professionals Test

  • Supervisor → Supervisor Test

  • Plumber → Plumbing/Gas Test

  • Demolition Worker → Demolition Test

  • Highways Operative → Highway Works Test

  • Scaffolder / Roofer → Working at Height Test

  • HVACR Specialist → HVACR Test

I don't know what card I need

There are several types of CSCS Cards, including Green, Blue, Gold, Red, Black, and White — each designed for different roles and experience levels in the construction industry.

👉 Important: Before applying for any CSCS Card, you’ll need to pass the relevant Health, Safety & Environment Test.

The Green CSCS Card (Labourer) is the most commonly issued card. It’s ideal for labourers and those in various other roles, especially if you don’t yet hold formal qualifications needed for a higher-level card.

I don't know what revision book I need

Only Two Revision Books to Choose From – Simple!

Knowing which revision book you need is straightforward, as there are just two types:

📘 GT100/19 – Health, Safety & Environment Test for Operatives and Specialists (2019)
This book is suitable for all test types except the Managers & Professionals test. If you’re taking any other test, this is the one you need.

📗 GT200/19 – Health, Safety & Environment Test for Managers and Professionals (2019)
This book is specifically for those sitting the Managers & Professionals test.

My card is due to or has expired, how do I renew?

If your CSCS card has expired or is close to expiring, you’ll need to take the correct Health, Safety & Environment test to renew it.

Most Trades = Operatives Test

The Operatives Test is the most common and covers a wide range of roles, including:

  • Labourers

  • Bricklayers

  • Carpenters

  • Painters & Decorators

  • Groundworkers

  • Cleaners

  • Other general construction occupations

It’s also valid for the majority of CSCS cards:
Green, Blue, Gold, Yellow, and Red Cards

You May Need a Specialist Test If You Are A:

  • Manager or Professional → Managers & Professionals Test

  • Supervisor → Supervisor Test

  • Plumber → Plumbing/Gas Test

  • Demolition Worker → Demolition Test

  • Highways Operative → Highway Works Test

  • Scaffolder or Roofer → Working at Height Test

  • HVACR Technician → HVACR Test

Can I take the test in another language?

The Operative Test is available with a voiceover in multiple languages, making it easier for you to take the test in the language you’re most comfortable with — including English.

Available languages include:

  • English

  • Welsh

  • Bulgarian

  • Czech

  • French

  • German

  • Hungarian

  • Lithuanian

  • Polish

  • Portuguese

  • Punjabi

  • Romanian

  • Russian

  • Spanish

I have no Photo ID, what else can I use?

To sit your test, you must bring one form of Primary ID that clearly shows your full name, a recognisable photo, and your signature.

✅ Acceptable Primary ID (bring one of the following):

  • A valid Passport (UK or International)

  • A Photocard Driving Licence (UK or European)

  • A Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or Biometric Residence Card (BRC) — must include a signature

❗ Don’t Have a Passport or UK Driving Licence?

If you can’t provide any of the primary ID options, you’ll need to bring two forms of Secondary ID:

  • One from List A (photo ID)

  • One from List B

⚠️ The name used to register for the test must exactly match the name on the ID you present. All ID must be original (not copies or digital), in date (no more than 6 months expired), and valid.

🔹 List A – Photo ID:

  • Non-UK/Non-EU Photocard Driving Licence

  • Passport (without a signature)

  • European National ID Card

  • CitizenCard or other proof of age card with the PASS hologram

  • Young Scot Card with PASS hologram

  • CSCS or CSCS Partner Card with CSCS hologram

  • UK Armed Forces ID Card

  • UK Armed Forces Veteran ID Card

  • UK Home Office Travel Document

  • BRP/BRC (without a signature)

🔸 List B – Supporting ID:

  • Credit Card

  • Debit Card

  • UK Paper Driving Licence (issued before 31 March 2000)

📄 No Valid ID at All?

If you’re unable to meet any of the ID requirements listed above, there’s one last option — a waiver form. This form must be printed, filled out correctly, and brought with you to the test centre. Please ensure you read the instructions carefully before using this option.

⏳ Important Notice:

If you’re scheduled for a test but cannot meet the ID requirements, you must contact us at least 5 working days before your test date. This is essential to be eligible to reschedule or postpone your test.

Rescheduling your test is simple. Just send us an email using the button below and make sure to include the following details:

  1. Your booking reference number (6-digit code)

  2. Full name of the candidate

  3. Preferred new dates and your chosen test centre
